Journey to Nepal Trekking route to Everest

Trek to Everest

The world-famous cult route to the highest peak of our planet. Every year this program attracts many tourists from all over the world who want to admire

We will lead the most popular Nepalese trek to Everest along the shortest route! We are going to the peak of the tourist season and to make the participants feel special, some author's tricks are included in the trekking thread, which, firstly, will protect our group from the main mass of tourists, if possible.

Secondly, you will see much more than everyone else, because the paths back and forth do not repeat.

Trek to Everest must be done at least once in a lifetime! Material wealth is coming, and the grandiose Himalayan panoramas and emotions from the trip will remain with you forever.

The culmination of our trekking will be the panorama at the head of which is Everest - Chomolungma, as the Sherpas call it:

You will be able to take photos from Kalapattar, the highest point of our trekking. In addition, we will visit the Everest Base Camp and possibly see Everest at sunset.

Climbing program

DAY 1. ARRIVAL AT KATHMANDU AIRPORT

Arrival in Kathmandu. Border formalities, meeting with the guide at the Kathmandu airport, then transfer to the hotel, where the guide gives a brief briefing. 22:30 general gathering of trekking participants to Everest in the hotel restaurant, acquaintance, discussion of the upcoming trip.

On this day, we will organize a festive dinner, where the main dishes of Nepalese and Kathmandian cuisine (slightly adapted for tourists) and a concert program. Despite to the fact that this New Year's Eve you need to sleep before an early flight to the gates of Everest - to Lukla.

Day 2. KATHMANDU - LUKLA (2850m) - ZAMPHUTE (2700m)

Breakfast at 5:30 am, departure to the airport and flight to Lukla. Flight time is 40 minutes. Soft we land on the famous ramp of the local airport.

After a short rest - exit to the trekking path to the Base Camp.

Today's crossing will take about 3 hours. We go down, up and down again to the Dudhkosi Nadi River, cross to the opposite bank along the characteristic suspension bridge and drink coffee in the German Bakery.

Then another half an hour of trekking and we are in place, in the small village of Zamphute. Accommodation in the friendly Kongde Peak Guesthouse. Zamphute is good because:

• firstly, it is very beautiful here - a pine forest, sheer cliffs with nests of wild Himalayan bees

• secondly, there are interesting and little visited sights by tourists

• thirdly, tourists rarely spend the night here, they either stop earlier or go further along the track...

After accommodation, we will go to the authentic Sherpa village of Gumela, which is about 150 meters higher than Zamfute. Visit to the Buddhist monastery Thaktul. First view of Everest.

Day 3. ZAMPHUTE (2700m) - NAMCHE BAZAAR (3440m)

Half an hour after leaving Zamphute, in the area of the town of Monjo, the gorge of the Kyashar Khola River goes up to the east. In 2012, Russian climbers Alexander Ruchkin and Vyacheslav Ivanov followed a barely visible path, steeply climbing up through a dense pine forest and alpine meadows, to get a golden ice ax.

Through Monjo passes the border of the Sagarmatha National Park. Gradually resort area gives way to more fabulous landscapes, best seen from the Sir Edmund Hillary Bridge, which will take us to Upper Solukhumba or simply Khumba.

Behind the bridge, the first serious test awaits us - a 3-hour and 600-meter viscous climb to Namche Bazaar. Going up to Namche, you need to keep your camera ready. Despite the heavy traffic, from the trail you can see musk deer, charza and about a hundred living exhibits of the Nepal Ornithological Museum. Namche Bazaar can be called a full-fledged city with all the relevant infrastructure. We are accommodated in the loggia, have dinner and rest.

DAY 4. NAMCHE BAZAR (3440m) - MONG (3960m) - PHORTSE TENGA (3600m)

The standard option for this day is a radial acclimatization tour of beautiful viewing platforms in the vicinity of Namche Bazaar and return back. But radials will not propel us on the way to Everest. Secondly, we can see more than with the standard approach. There is plenty to do in the Sherpa capital on this evening, but letting yourself relax too much at the start of your hike is wrong. We will return to Namche, and there will be more oxygen in our blood for the digestion of the solemn banquet on the occasion of the successful completion of trekking!

So, after the obligatory acclimatization exit, we descend not in Namche at 3440m, but in Pkhortse Tenga at 3600m The difference of 160 vertical meters is not as significant as the operational advantage gained.

We have breakfast, at 8 am we go up. After a couple of hours, we drink tea on the terrace of the famous Everest View Hotel in Syangboche. Then we go down to the large Sherpa village of Kumjung, visit the local monastery, located on the edge of a 500-year-old juniper grove. The scalp of a real yeti is kept in the monastery! Then we will have a short descent and a long ascent to Mong - the birthplace of the flying llama. In Monge, at an altitude of 3960m, we will spend as much time as possible sitting on the grass and looking at the expanses of the Upper Solukhumbu. The most athletic will be asked to dial another hundred meters, for prevention. Slightly hungry for dinner, we will start the 350 meter descent at Phortse Tenga, in the gorge of the Milk River (Dudh Kosi), fed by Nepal's longest glacier Ngozumba, which, in its turn, collects ice from the southern slopes of Cho Oyu (8200m) and Gyachung Kang (7956m) - the most, for a minute, (!) Highest 7-thousander on Earth. There are no suites in Phortse Tenga, like in Namche, but you can track down musk deer. Rest, overnight in the loggia.

DAY 5. PHORTSE TENGA (3600m) - PHORTSE (3800m) - PANGBOCHE (3940m)

The morning begins with the usual breakfast in the loggia. From Kumjung to Phortse Tenga we followed the Gokyo trek trail. Today we turn off it in order to return in the evening to the main trail of the trek to Everest, which runs parallel below. In the morning we cross Dudh Kosi, climb 200 meters to Pkhortse and drink tea with a view of Cho Oyu. Further, the trail hovers over the abyss - Imdzha Khola gorge. On the other side is the largest Sherpa monastery in Tengboche, towering over it are the 6,000-meter Tamserku and Kangtega. The monastery is very close - it is less than a kilometer away, but we are unlikely to reach it on this day, since it may take the last forces to overcome the water barrier.

In May, rhododendrons bloom here.

Today we will not stay without an excursion in the monastery. Pangboche has its own, small but very cute! Accommodation in the loggia.

DAY 6. PANGBOCHE (3940m) - DINGBOCHE (4410m)

After breakfast, we go further towards Everest through the gate formed by Taboche Peak on the left and

Ama Dablam on the right, along the chain of villages Shomare, Orsho and Churo. As Everest ascends

hide for a while behind the wall of Nuptse to re-open to us on the way to the Base Camp.

In a thin strip of forest along the river on the left, the Himalayan birches have completely replaced the pines.

Soon the forest will end, approximately in the place where both peaks of AmaDablam will line up on the same line, making for a while the familiar outlines of the majestic mountain hardly recognizable. At this point, just above the confluence of Imja and Khumbu Khola, we will cross to the opposite side of the valley, and we will have no more than half an hour to the loggia.

The entire today's transition will leave 6 kilometers with a climb of about 500 meters.

Dingboche is the granary of the upper Solukhumbu. There is a special, relatively comfortable microclimate for such heights. The village is sheltered from cold winds and open to the sun. Surprisingly, tasty potatoes grow perfectly at 4400, and a local Sherpa porter can easily carry a bag to Everest Base Camp in one day's march!

We will spend two nights and a day and a half in Dingboche. Which one and a half to make a day off, the guide will decide based on the well-being of the group. Ideally, the next one, and if health permits, today after lunch and a short rest, we have an ascent to Nagartsang - Dingboche View Point (5083m). This is another +700 meters to the already dialed. It is not necessary to collect all of them. Even halfway to Nagartzang the view is spectacular! Overnight at the lodge.

DAY 7. Rest day in DINGBOCH

For relaxation in Dingboche, there is a coffee machine and fresh local pastries, as well as picturesque

neighborhoods where sea buckthorn ripens massively in autumn, alpine flowers bloom in spring. For

For better acclimatization, you will need to walk for two to three hours. It will be possible to take a walk, for example, to a horseshoe-shaped lake, which is located near the village. The guide always has

a burner and a kettle, so you can organize tea by the lake with wonderful views of the surrounding mountains. Today we will spend the second night in the loggia in Dingboche.

DAY 8. DINGBOCHE (4410m) - PYRAMID (5001m) / LOBUCHE (4930m)

In the morning, the trail rises sharply to 100 meters, then, almost without climbing, it goes to the final moraine of the Khumbu glacier near the village of Tugla (4600m), which is an hour and a half away. After a day of rest, it is easy to walk, besides the sun and levitating like the Taj Mahal AmaDablam gently push in the back.

Halt in Tugla. The Khumbu glacier, the southern tip of which hangs over the village, has a length of about 10 kilometers.

It originates on a high plateau of 6500m, which is surrounded by three mountain giants: Everest (8848), Lhotse (8511) and Nuptse (7896). A little lower, in the turn of the glacier, is the Everest Base Camp. From Tugla begins a steep ascent to the moraine. Behind the bend is a sacred place for climbers - a memorial to comrades who died in the Himalayas - several dozen structures with commemorative plaques, the same as Buddhist chortens. The altitude mark of the memorial is 4820m above sea level, the village Lobuche - 4930 Between them 2.5 kilometers. It's less than an hour even at this altitude. From Lobuche to the Pyramid no more than one and a half kilometers. We settle down, have a rest, go for a walk on the hillock, on the evening dawn. You can walk along the hill far enough - up to the first views of Everest.
ATTENTION!

Lobuche, and especially Gorakshep, are not the friendliest places on earth. In the first, after

earthquake in 2015, there were problems with water. The second is too high and cold for an overnight stay, it is difficult to recover there before climbing Kalapattar. But between them there is a PYRAMID! This amazing architectural structure, which has the features of the International Space Station and the creations of the ancient Egyptians, is actually an Italian meteorological observatory, part of the premises of which is operated as a hotel. There are hundreds here

meters of solar panels, several tons of batteries and fast satellite internet. A small area of flat land under Mount Lobuche East is securely sheltered from winds and rockfalls and has a reliable source of drinking water and hot showers. The pyramid is at the same time comfortable, secluded and, therefore, very popular in narrow circles. She rarely

there are places, so you need to negotiate with the owner in advance. But if our group is completed two months before departure to Nepal, then there is a chance, the guide will book these amazing apartments.

Accommodation in the Pyramid is considered as an upgrade of living conditions, for which, you should pay extra. The next two days of the program are based on accommodation in the Pyramid, as we always hope for the best! However, if the weather forecast is cloudy during the day, we will have to spend the night in Gorakshep in order to reach Kalapattar before dark. So there are more chances to see Everest, which is clearly preferable to comfort. The decision will be made on the spot.

DAY 9. EVEREST Base Camp and Climbing KALAPATTAR

The culmination of our trip!

We leave at dawn, accompanied by our Sherpas. The trail winds along the Ngozumba Glacier,

past the springs feeding Gokyo, along the shore of the Fourth Lake and then runs away towards the Base

Cho Oyu camp. Behind the lake, we will turn left and, without a path, we will begin to climb along the high-mountain meadow overgrown with low grass, then we will continue moving along the plateau. Soon

on the right, because of the black rocks hanging over Ngozumba, Everest will appear. As he rises, he

more and more will be opened, and when the Gaunara glacier “creeps” under the line of sight of Everest, we will see almost the entire northern ridge, the southern saddle and the neighbor of Everest - Lhotse.

Approximately at an altitude of 5350 meters, the grass will end and you will have to climb along the kurumnik - a pile of huge stones, checking each for "survivability". After 250 vertical meters we will climb to the intermediate peak - our signature observation deck. Having absorbed the greatness of the moment (as far as the piercing wind will allow), we will begin the descent to the Everest Base Camp. EBC (Everest Base Camp) is a few hectares of young Khumbu moraine on the edge of a slowly flowing medley of ice and stones - a living glacier bed. There are no, and cannot be, capital buildings here, only tents that do not require a solid foundation, of which there are more than a thousand in the high season. From the Base Camp itself, Everest is not visible, it is closed by its spur. We can get the closest view of the summit, about 800 meters before reaching the Base Camp.

Khumbu Icefall

It is interesting that the place of the steep fall of the glacier - the Khumbu icefall - among climbers in

joke called Popcorn Field. This difficult part of the route to Everest is a chaotic heap of huge blocks of ice - siraki, at any moment ready to close or fall apart, putting the lives of climbers in mortal danger.

And popcorn because the inhabitants of the Everest Base Camp, sitting in their sun loungers, love to watch what they will soon have. Those who climb and those who rest below can see each other perfectly. We will return to the Pyramid at the sunset of this extremely eventful and emotional day!

Prohibition is being lifted tonight (secretly).

DAY 10. PYRAMID (5001m) - PANGBOCHE (3940m) - DEBOCHE (3740m)

After breakfast we will go to Deboche. The descent will take all day. Rest and overnight at the lodge.

DAY 11. DEBOCHE (4700m) - NAMCHE BAZAR (3446m)

In the evening, the promised festive banquet. The Namche hotel restaurant has the best cuisine under Everest!

DAY 12. NAMCHE BAZAR (3446m) - LUKLA (2850m)

We made the way to Namche Bazaar in 2 days. One is enough back. Accommodation at the base

Lukla, where there is a hot shower in every room and this is at the expense of the host! In the evening another banquet. Success was celebrated yesterday, today we celebrate the end of trekking! Tomorrow is only half a kilometer from Sir Edmund Hilary Airport.

DAY 13. LUKLA (2850m) - KATHMANDU

Another flight over forests, hills, terraces, amazingly picturesque Nepalese

landscapes. We hope the weather will be good and we will once again see the Himalayas from the DHC-6 Twin

Otter, Let L 410 "Turbolet" or Dornier Do 228, depending on which ticket we have.

Interesting! We're flying within range of several cell towers. There will be an opportunity publish photos taken from the window of an airplane on the Internet. Straight off the board!

On the left side of the plane is Gaurishankar.

To the left are picturesque Nepalese terraces.

Upon arrival transfer to the hotel. In the evening, a gala dinner in one of the most exotic Restaurants Kathmandu - Harati. About 200 local dishes. Newar cuisine (Newars - indigenous the population of the Kathmandu Valley) is completely alternative to the general Nepalese!

Day 14. EXCURSION DAY TO KATHMANDU

Breakfast in the hotel. This day is devoted to acquaintance with the sights of Kathmandu - a city with

over 2000 years of history.

We can visit the Durbar, the largest palace square recognized by the World cultural heritage of UNESCO. There are more than 50 ancient religious temples and monuments of various styles and religions. In the Hindu complex of Pashupatinath, the most important holy Shiva temple in the world, on both sides of the Bagmati River, the rite of cremation of the dead is performed. And in the center of the Swayambhunath temple complex (monkey temple), there is a large Buddhist stupa, in order to climb it, you need to overcome 365 steps, according to the number of days in a year.

At the same time, we do not exclude a small improvisation: the guide can conduct his author's

excursion - the back streets of old Kathmandu ..

In the evening - return to the hotel. Rest and overnight at the hotel.
